Out of the Blue (2022) | Rotten Tomatoes (1) David Stratton The Australian Out of the Blue taps into the classical era of film noir...it’s likely to be a delight for the movie buffs among us. Rated: 3.5/5 Mar 15, 2023 Full Review Out of the Blue (2022) | Rotten Tomatoes (2) Geoff Berkshire Los Angeles Times A great femme fatale can elevate any noir, but the talented Kruger isn’t given much to work with here. Aug 26, 2022 Full Review Out of the Blue (2022) | Rotten Tomatoes (3) Robert Abele TheWrap If an adulterous mystery in the Cain vein isn’t going to dazzle with its dialogue or titillate with its temptations, why is it there? Aug 25, 2022 Full Review Out of the Blue (2022) | Rotten Tomatoes (4) Erik Childress Movie Madness Podcast Neil LaBute’s commitment to the femme fatale homage works for awhile and Diane Kruger is more than game, but instead of following suit in subverting our expectations the film settles into becoming a DTV Wild Things sequel with a tenth of the twists. Shawn H There isn’t a likable character to be found. Rated 1/5 Stars • Rated 1 out of 5 stars 12/29/24 Full Review Cedric G Your classic film noir style storyline told 1000 times before but with an excellent twist at the end. The people giving it bad reviews must didn't watch until the end as I almost didn't (just because I was tired) because I predicted the ending in my head. Yes, the acting could've been a little bit more lively but it's still worth a watch. Rated 4/5 Stars • Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/28/24 Full Review Ronald H Embarrassingly dumb, with wooden dialogue and acting. The noir references to James M. Cain just highlight how inferior this movie is. The older femme fatale and the gullible, horny young man who decides to kill her abusive husband are nothing new, of course, but with a good screenplay, such a story could at least hold your attention. Not the case here. I can't remember the last time I rolled my eyes so much watching a movie. Rated 1/5 Stars • Rated 1 out of 5 stars 12/01/24 Full Review Alain E A nice contemporary update of the classic noir theme regarding the duplicitous character of women. In films like the Postman rings twice the male sucker is dispatched so the femme fatale can continue hunting. In the present version two male dupes die prematurely so that their female partners can enjoy an affluent lesbian lifestyle. If you like this type of story, the movie is very well made. The movie has received all type of negative reviews. Some people think that Diane Kruger is not sexy enough to justify murdering her husband. Other people, who have led more fascinating lives than me, claim that they could tell the end after the first ten minutes. And finally other negative assessments find the movie unrealistic. It was never intended to be a documentary, like Star Wars for example. Rated 4/5 Stars • Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/27/24 Full Review Alison M Don’t waste an hour and a half of your life watching this slow, unrealistic film. You knew the plot within the first 10 minutes Rated 1/5 Stars • Rated 1 out of 5 stars 10/02/24 Full Review Marco D ?? Rated 0.5/5 Stars • Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/22/24 Full Review Read all reviews
